VISION AND VALUES
We believe the City is the launching pad for the Gospel. City Uprising hopes to inspire resolute commitment to the local church, raise awareness of the need to reach the world's major cities with the love and compassion of Jesus Christ through new churches, and build a bridge into the heart of the City through love and active service.
Contextually, we serve the City to see it prosper and the rest of the world will see. Cities create culture and movements, they do not respond to them. We have seen throughout the history of the Church that God has used major cities as a strategic part of His mission. Unfortunately, the City has become a foreign land to many Christians in America today. The world has moved to our cities as we have moved out. We hope that City Uprising and the care we show the City will ripple into the world.
Excellence must be pursued in all things, and we believe relevance to culture is not an option for the Church. The writers of Scripture set a great example of knowing their audience and the influences on that audience. We too must never stop learning about our community, and we must become the best question-askers ever, in order to care for people (Colossians 3:17).
Every City is different. The needs, conflicts, demographics, and dynamics will all differ, but we know that God is moving in the City and that the Kingdom of God is being built up. We hope you will join us in living missionally and seeing the prosperity of the City.
