BECOME A SENDING CHURCH PARTNER
City Uprising is a church planting vehicle designed to equip and connect Sending Churches with Urban Church Plants. We believe the City is a launching pad for the Gospel. With 60% of the population moving toward large metropolitan areas in the next 30 years, we believe the Church should take notice and respond. We desire for Sending Churches to bring people to the City to display the Glory of God and propel the Urban Church Plant.
City Uprising's goal is to develop a shared partnership with long-term sustainability between the Urban Church Platner and the Sending Church Partner, inspire catalyst family engagement in missional-living opportunities, and make disciples through a discipleship model of evangelism.
Once a Sending Church is linked to a City, we provide training for you as partners to City Churches and as urban ambassadors of the Good News. Training involves
- Pre-trip planning materials
- City visits prior to the first City Uprising, if necessary
- City Uprising Dream Week (annual to biannual training intensives)
Sending Church Partners work to recruit missions teams from within your Church to participate in the Urban Church Plant's City Uprising events, which are annual four-day intensive service and worship experiences. Your role as a Sending Church Partner is to lock arms with the Urban Church Planter, asking how to best help with toil the ground. Additionally, you will champion the Urban Church Planter's intentional focus and assist in activities they will be performing during their City Uprising event. This requires the Sending Church to have a foremost concern for the reputation of the local City Church they are representing and for whom they are providing resources.
Your partnership with the City's Urban Church Planter will pay huge dividends to your ministry efforts in your hometown by enabling people to learn about urban ministry and apply living out these lessons in their local communities. And as part of our partnership, we anticipate that you will recruit and encourage singles and families in your church body to prayerfully consider relocating as catalysts for the new Urban Church Plant. Each time a Sending Church Partner visits a City to serve an Urban Church Plant, the City Uprising team will intentionally encourage the participants to listen to hear if God is calling them to relocate to that City. Our hope is that they don't just come once a year to serve, but that the Lord of the Harvest calls them to relocate or find a job in the City to live intentionally as part of the new or relaunched Urban Church.
